Supported formats and size limits
VideoBB takes 12 video formats, such as MP4, MKV, MOV and AVI, in files up to 4 GB. See the daily upload limits for free and Premium.
VideoBB accepts video files of up to 4 GB in 12 common formats. A free account can upload 10 videos in any 24 hours, and Premium raises that to 100. Every file is encoded again after upload, so the format you start with does not change how it plays.
Accepted video formats
You can upload MP4, MKV, AVI, MOV, WebM, M4V, MPG, MPEG, WMV, FLV, TS and 3GP files. The uploader checks the file ending before it starts, so a file with another ending is refused right away.
Does the codec inside matter?
Not for playback. A format like MP4 or MKV is a container, and it can hold many codecs, such as H.264, H.265 or VP9. VideoBB turns the picture and sound into its own streaming format either way. Files that will not work
- Files larger than 4 GB are refused before the upload starts.
- Files with an ending that is not on the list above are refused.
- Audio-only files fail, because there is no picture to encode.
- Files that were cut short or damaged during export or copying fail with a message that says so. Upload the complete file again.
HDR, interlaced and other special video
HDR video from phones (HDR10 and HLG) is converted to standard colour, so it keeps its contrast and colour on every screen. Interlaced video from DVDs, TV recordings and older camcorders is deinterlaced, video with non-square pixels is shown in its proper shape, transparent areas become black, and surround sound is mixed to stereo for streaming.

The daily count is rolling. It looks back over the last 24 hours, not the calendar day. The upload page shows how many you have used so far. It counts every new video added to your channel in that time.
Getting a big file under 4 GB
