About VideoBB: free hosting for large video files

VideoBB is a video hosting site. You upload a file of up to 4 GB. We turn it into streams that play well on any screen, on your channel or on your own website.

That is the whole product. Every part of the site exists to do it well. The tagline says it plainly: upload big, play anywhere.

What the platform does

VideoBB takes care of the hard parts of video: big uploads, encoding and smooth playback.

Accepts large files

Uploads use the tus protocol, which lets a file pick up where it stopped. A 4 GB file survives a dropped connection. Twelve formats are accepted, including MP4, MKV, MOV and AVI. The guide to resumable uploads explains how this works.

Encodes every quality level

FFmpeg servers make copies of each video at 144p, 240p, 360p, 480p, 720p and 1080p. Premium members also get 1440p and 2160p (4K) when the source is that sharp. Nothing is upscaled.

Streams in the right quality

Videos play as HLS streams. The player picks the best quality your connection can hold and switches as it changes. Read how adaptive streaming works for the details.

Plays anywhere

The player embeds with one iframe. It supports autoplay, a start time, loop and picture-in-picture, and it answers oEmbed requests. The embed guide shows the code.

Edits and converts

Members also get a browser editor and eight free video tools, such as a converter, a compressor and a trimmer.

VideoBB earns money in two ways. Both are shown openly on the site.

Premium memberships

Premium costs $9.99 for 30 days or $79 a year, paid from creator earnings. 50% of net Premium revenue is shared with creators through the Creator Program.

Direct-sold advertising

We sell promoted videos and creator partnerships ourselves. Every placement is labelled. It is placed by the page's topic, not by a profile of you. Premium members never see it.

What we never do

• We do not sell data and we do not run third-party ad networks.
• Paid placements never change Trending, which is worked out from views, likes and comments weighted by how recent they are.
