Shorts: videos of three minutes or less
Any VideoBB video of three minutes (180 seconds) or less becomes a Short on its own. Shorts get their own player, feed and channel tab.
A Short is any video of 180 seconds (three minutes) or less. VideoBB decides this by itself when it processes the file. You do not need to tick a box or pick a special shape.
What happens to a Short
- It plays in the vertical swipe player, at an address like
/shorts/v6ky2vl-title-of-the-short. - It appears in the Shorts feed and on the Shorts tab of your channel.
- It is left out of the regular video feeds, which list longer videos.
- It loops and starts playing on its own. Browsers may start it muted until the viewer taps.
Vertical, square or landscape
Length is the only rule. A vertical 9:16 video fills a phone screen. A landscape Short plays with bars above and below. Quality is judged on the short side, so a 1080×1920 Short counts as 1080p.
Links to a Short
A Short has its own address that starts with /shorts/. If someone opens it through a regular watch address, they are sent to the Shorts address instead.
Link a Short to a longer video
You can point viewers from a Short to one of your full videos. Open the Short in your studio, pick a video under Linked video and save. The Short then shows a button with that video's title. Only your own public videos longer than three minutes can be linked. If the linked video stops being public, the button is hidden.
Pin a comment
On your own Short, open the three-dot menu on a comment and choose Pin. The pinned comment stays at the top with "Pinned by" and your handle. One comment can be pinned at a time; pinning another one replaces it, and Unpin removes it. Replies cannot be pinned.
Making a Short on purpose
You can plan a Short from the start, or cut one from a longer video.
Cut a Short from a longer video
Open the video in the editor, set the frame shape to 9:16 and keep the edit under three minutes. When you save it, the new video becomes a Short. Read the editor overview to find those tools. For a quick cut without reframing, the free trim tool also works.
Generate a Short with AI
Clips made with Higgsfield are short, so they land as Shorts. See creating videos with Higgsfield.
Keep a video out of Shorts
The only way is to make it longer than three minutes. If you want a long-form listing, upload a version that runs past the three-minute mark.
