Saving your edit as a new video
Save video turns your edit into a new private VideoBB video. See the daily save limit, what the new video copies and how to cancel a save.
Press Save video to turn your edit into a new video on your channel. VideoBB renders it on its own servers from your original files. The new video arrives as private, and your original stays exactly as it was.
Download your edit
Press Download MP4 next to Open video, in the editor once the save has finished or in the list of your edits, or open the saved video in the studio and press it there. VideoBB prepares the file, which can take a few minutes for a long video, and then the download starts.
How saving works
- Press Save video at the top right of the editor.
- A status bar shows the progress as a percentage.
- When it finishes, the new video goes through normal encoding, like any upload.
- Review it in the studio, then set it to Public or Unlisted when you are ready.
What the new video copies
- The title of your edit project, which starts as the original title plus (edit).
- The description of the original video.
- The category and the comment and embed switches of the original.
- Your captions, as a CC track, if captions were on in the edit.
The render is an MP4 file with H.264 video and AAC sound. It then gets the same quality levels as any upload; see encoding times after upload.
Your daily save allowance

The count covers the last 24 hours, not the calendar day. Each save stops counting 24 hours after you started it. The counter next to Save video shows how many you have used. Need more? Premium includes 100 saves a day.
Cancel a save
Press Cancel in the status bar. The render stops at its next progress update. A cancelled save does not count toward your allowance.
When a save fails
- A clip in the edit points to a video you have since deleted.
- An image or music file used in the edit was removed from your editor files.
- The render hit an error. The message tells you what went wrong.
Failed saves are not counted. Fix the cause and press Save video again. The editor overview shows where each file lives.
