The AI assistant and your own Gemini key
The VideoBB AI assistant runs on your own Gemini key. Add the key, ask for an edit in plain words, preview it, then accept or reject it.
The AI assistant turns a plain request into suggested changes on your timeline. It runs on Google Gemini with your own API key, so Google bills any usage to you, not VideoBB. Nothing changes until you accept.
Add your Gemini API key
- Open a project in the editor and find the AI assistant panel on the right.
- Choose Gemini. If no key is saved yet, a box asks for one.
- Create a key in Google AI Studio. Gemini keys start with AIza.
- Paste the key and press Save key. VideoBB checks it with one tiny request, then stores it encrypted.
Once saved, the panel shows the last few characters of the key and a Remove button. The key is only used for your own requests. The same key can also write shot lists for Higgsfield Story mode.
Ask for an edit
- Type what you want in plain words, in 3 to 1,000 characters. For example: remove the first 12 seconds and the long pauses, make it vertical, add captions.
- Press Suggest edits.
- Read the list of changes and the short summary.
- Press Preview to watch the result, then Accept or Reject.
What the assistant can change
- Cut out pauses, mistakes or an intro, and trim, split, delete or reorder clips.
- Add a section of another of your own videos.
- Change the frame shape, for example to 9:16 for a Short.
- Set the volume, fades, clip speed, transitions and colour looks.
- Add text titles and markers, and turn automatic captions on or off.
It cannot invent music or images. Upload those yourself, as shown in the editor overview.
What the assistant sees
It sees the transcript of your speech and the list of clips, never your original file. Words in the transcript are treated as data, so text spoken in a video cannot give the assistant orders.
Costs and common problems
Because the assistant runs on your own key, Google bills each request to your Google account, not to VideoBB. Check your usage with Google from time to time, and remove the key in the panel whenever you want to stop.
The timeline changed
If you edit by hand after a suggestion arrives, Accept is refused. Ask the assistant again so it works from the latest version.
Google rejected the key
Check that you copied the whole key. If it still fails, make a new key in Google AI Studio and save that one.
The suggestion could not be applied
Sometimes the assistant asks for something the editor cannot do. Rephrase the request in simpler steps and try again.
