Playback stutters or will not start
Fix VideoBB videos that stutter, buffer or will not start. Check quality, reload, pause add-ons, try another browser, or report the video.
Most playback problems come from the connection, the browser or an add-on, not the video. Work through the steps below in order. Each one takes less than a minute.
Five fixes to try in order
- Set the quality to Auto, or choose Data saver if your connection is slow.
- Reload the page. The player then fetches a fresh playlist.
- Turn off ad-blockers and privacy add-ons for videobb.com. Some block parts of the player.
- Try another browser. Current versions of Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge are all supported.
- Try another network, for example your phone's data instead of Wi-Fi.
Match the problem to the fix
The video keeps buffering
Your connection cannot keep up with the level that is playing. Auto steps down on its own, but a fixed level cannot. Switch to Auto or Data saver. Our video bitrate guide shows how much speed each level needs.
Black screen, or the video never starts
An add-on may be blocking the stream. Pause it for VideoBB and reload. If the tab has been open for many hours, reload it too: playback links expire after a few hours for safety.
No sound
Check that the player and the browser tab are not muted. Press M to toggle mute. Many browsers start videos muted until you click or tap.
The video says it is unavailable
The owner may have made it private, or it may still be encoding. On other websites, it may also mean the owner turned embedding off.
The picture is soft but smooth
The video may still be processing, or your account may not include the level you want. See quality levels and Auto and encoding times after upload.
When one video fails everywhere
If every other video plays but one never does, the problem may be that video's file. Open the three-dot menu under the video, choose Report, pick Other and describe what happens. A person checks every report; see how to report content.
